And the slide cover tells me it’s 1971. Holy crap that’s like 38 years. And that’s the kind of picture I took then, just weaning off black and white, but still taking kind of black and white shots, like this scene.
I think I don’t show much remorse for losing most of my old pictures because so many of them had that haunting (to me) feel to them.
This slide was in a box that contained a projector.

My thanks go out to all the sponsors, judges, volunteers and supporters who give so much of themselves for all events.
The show runs for another week.
The shot was taken in Chicago.
He was a nice man.

I added this picture today. It always makes me feel good. I took it at an Apple Festival in Hendersonville, NC a couple of years ago. They were all enjoying some local dancing and singing. Good times. Along with shoulder comfort for both the giver and the receiver.
I call this little girl a kid because I only vaguely remember it as a girl. If it wasn’t , I wanted to avoid embarrassment.
I have tried a number of times to shoot kids on shoulders. This is the only time I got it. Everything even lined up for me...the dome and the hat with the hole and the shoulders and the buildings and even the appearance of the balloons to assure everybody that this was a good time.

I have known this crusty old fart for decades and never would have guessed he had a sensitive bone in his body. But he’s very good.
I met Dan when I was a prosecutor and he was an investigative reporter. Later he was to become a real investigator and press guy for the Department of Insurance and ended up as the head flack for senator Bill Nelson of Florida. He now lives in Washington, of course.
Through the years we have made cameo appearances in each other’s lives and I always enjoy our brief encounters.
Now Dan is also trying to give other independent artists a chance to show their works to a broader audience.
Good for you, Dan. Go visit the McLaughlin Gallery when you get a chance
